“The colonial masters introduced the education systems in India to create clerks and civil servants, and we have not deviated much from that patter till today.” – Anonymous.
Sad, we are still educating our youth following outdated tactics and these tactics can earn good grades but not a very good practice life.
There are many serious flaws in our education that needs to be addressed and fixed for the betterment of our youth.
Examination system is considered as a backbone of any education system. Different nations are introducing new, creative and innovative ideas for their examination system and we are still stuck at old, rude and depressing examination techniques.
Flaws in Our Education System
- As our system tests the memory of students rather than testing their intelligence level which diverts the students from the right purpose of the education. So, students start preparing their exams just to score high marks which leaves them dull when it comes to basic concepts.
- Our education system has given birth to many students who can score 90/100 easily but will never be able to explain their concepts and logic behind the things happening around them.
- We live in a community where academic grades are used to compare the students. Our society (and even universities) discriminates students on the basis of their grades (ignore IQ levels of students with low grades).
Psychological effects on students because of outdated examination system
After 3 years of preschool education, 12 years of schooling and then 4 -5 years of college study what our education system gives to the students? Nothing but good grades. And when students try to get a job with those earned grades (without basic concepts and skills) can you expect interviewers to hire them? My answer is not, absolutely not.
Does our education system enable our students to recognize their hidden potential? Just ask this question to yourself and the answer did your education system encourage you to find inner you?
No doubt, Indian education system has produced many toppers in past few years but did this education system produce confident and self-determined students who can talk confidently?
Our education authorities have forgotten the real purpose of examination and in case, if even you don’t know what should be the main role of education in our lives then read the following quote that too said by an anonymous.
“The main purpose of education is to connect people with their own sense of possibilities”.
If your answer is NO to all of my above-asked questions, then I personally think that we need to take some serious measures in our education system to help our upcoming generation with their future.
