How Good Are India’s CBSE Schools?

State schools will always be important and the students that come out of such schools are highly talented, intelligent and second to none.

One of India’s favourite sons, the late President Abdul Kalam, a renowned scientist, was a product of a state school, so state schools are doing a great job. But if you have an option between a state school and a CBSE school for your child, you should certainly consider the latter as long as you can afford the fees.

There are more than 15,000 CBSE schools in India. CBSE means Central Board of Secondary Education. Every year, there are scores of new CBSE schools springing up across the country. The demand for these schools is very high indeed.

 The reason CBSE schools are so popular is because they don’t emphasise mugging or rote learning. Many parents have complained that in state schools, students who are good at rote learning do better while those who are more creative in their thinking or have original thoughts or ideas get neglected.
