National sports university is a sparkling academic institute dedicated to sports and it is situated in Imphal, Manipur. This university is completely new and it has just been established. To be precise, the university has been established in 2018 and it has three campuses, namely Lucknow, Mohali and Gwalior.

Although, there are multiple universities in India focusing on sports education, including Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Swarnim Gujarat Sports University etc and a Deemed University named Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, yet this is the first university solely dedicated for the sports. Similar to all of the universities in India, this University is also affiliated to the University Grants Commission or UGC.
