Mizoram University is a central public university located in Aizawl, Mizoram. The university stands out of the rest with the motto, “Greater Deeds Remain”. This public university is relatively new and it was established in 2001.

The vice chancellor of this university is Prof. K. R. S. Sambsalva Rao and the governor of Mizoram is the Rector of this university. The university has over 232 academic staffs as well. Apart from the UGC, the university is also affiliated to AIU.

According to the university authority, the objective of this university is to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing research facilities and instructional facilities in several branches including humanities, natural science, physical science, social science, forestry and other allied departments.

The university has a student’s union and it has its individual publication as well. The university is incorporated with a bar code technology and free online access to the library is available. The university campus also has facilities for several sports including, football, basketball, table tennis etc. The Mizoram University Football team was the champion of Inter University East Zone Football Championship in 2008 and 2009. The university has three girl’s hostel and four boy’s hostels.
