Kurukshetra University emerges with the motto, “yogastha kuru karmāṇi”, “in native tongue”. Established in 1957, this university is a cornerstone of education and research in India. The university campus is located in Kurukshetra, Haryana and the governor of Haryana is the Chancellor of this university.  

Kurukshetra University is situated about 160 km away from the capital of India, Delhi and it is a member of Association of Commonwealth University. The idea of establishment of this university was at first conceived by the Punjab Governor, Sir C.P. Narayan Singh, a brilliant Sanskrit Scholar. When the idea of the formation of the university comes in to light, it has only one department, the department of Sanskrit. However, at the moment, it has a campus area spread over 473 acres.

According to the NIRF, the university is ranked 80^th among all of the universities of India. For the higher education of Law, the university is ranked 15^th by “India Today”.

Here is a brief description of the university.

• At present, the university is offering UG, PG and Doctoral Research program. It has several schools and departments offering tantalizing tutoring experience. In addition, all of the facilities are equipped with first-rated tools and instruments so that the students could get the best out of them and the research scholars could conduct researches with utmost perfection.
• The campus area has all the modern amenities for the students. It contains a vast computer lab. The library of this institution is rich and it contains thousands of books. It contains Wi-Fi zone and residence for the students.
• The university offers an e-portal of information for the students through their websites, so that the students could be up-to-dated with all essential information.  
• In addition, it also provides transportation for the students. Furthermore, the campus offers cafeteria and canteen as well. It has a medical facility available for the students. For better accommodation of the academic staffs and research scholars, it has separate residential buildings.  
• The university also holds various seminars and workshops on a regular basis where scholars could publish their papers.
• In accession to curricular activities, the university also arranges annual cultural and sports events along with intra-departmental ceremonies.
