Mental health is a rising issue in all parts of the world, and education seems to be taking a hefty toll on the mental health of many students. The stigmatization of mental health disorders, aren't taken as faults in brain chemistry by even the most influential academics and students are somehow expected to deal with it, but the epidemic is on a rise, and hence there should be a change in approach.
The universities minister of the UK has called out for efforts to take place from the top, the management. The effect will be a trickle down, and hence VC's of universities should orient their priorities in order to combat the problems associated with mental health of the students. Another incentive of putting in the effort for mental health is that students who are healthy will be able to perform better.
The idea is that students studying in universities have potential, that's the preamble, and taking it forward from that student who are hampered with mental health disorders won't be able to perform to their truest potential.
Alternate activities to drinking and partying must be given to students, according to some VC's, the reason being there are associated mental harms to these activities, and they don't encourage a healthy environment for students.
