George Washington’s Broken Dream of a National University

George Washington strongly believed that the two institutions, military, and education are imperative to the building of a nation. He believed them two be desirable for any nation and left $22,222, a lot of money back in the day for the building and structuring of these two institutions. The West Point Military academy was soon built, but the university wasn't.

The lawmakers in the US favored state governments and religious institutions to finance and construct universities, and a national university, funded by the federal government never came to being. Due to this, the prices of universities and colleges grew exponentially, and now there's a crisis situation as the funding gap between students and university budgets has never been higher.

Student and parents have to cut out their leisure activities to be able to fund for college, and even then in most cases, college education can't be fully funded, so loans have to be taken out. Due to these astronomical prices, many parents are fine with high school level education as college is just too expensive.

Most of the students in colleges have to be working with their studies, putting enormous pressure on them. Recent research showed that students believed that they hadn't learned a lot in college as studies never had all of their attention and they felt pre-occupied.
