Dawt lang, a refugee in her teens from Malaysia, helped deliver her cousin’s baby rather than calling for an ambulance, due to the fear of getting deported. The teen and her cousin were discovered as undocumented.

The experience terrified and overwhelmed Lang at the same time and helped it shape her perspective of life and her future vision.

lang has decided to study nursing the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She is amongst one of the hundred graduates of Milwaukee Public School (MPS) who is sharing the record $86.2 million worth scholarship that was offered to district students.

The reason she decided to study nursing is because she said, “In Myanmar, there is a lack of medical care. Some people choose to die rather than leave their children with (health care) debt.” lang wants to make a change in her country after she graduates.

Keith Posley, MPS Superintendent said to 2 dozen scholarship residents, “I am so proud of each of you,It's a tribute to the hard work and ... commitment that you have put ... to furthering your education.”

Graduate from Golda Meir High School, Isaiah Gordon gave a shootout to “Miss Liz” (Elizabeth Mueller) her career adviser and said she was her biggest supporter.
