State Skills USA competition showcases technical education talents

United Technical Center facilitated one of three state SkillsUSA rivalries Saturday to decide victors who will progress to national rivalry.

Every opposition included composed and hands-on testing by judges who are specialists in their particular fields.

UTC right hand executive/instructor Paula Altman said in regard to 40 of the school's understudies partaken in state rivalries Saturday.

"We every year send understudies to the national rivalry, which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, the seven days stretch of July 25," she said.

 

UTC understudy Will VanHorn contended with 10 different understudies in impact repair Saturday. He called it an extraordinary affair.

Thirty understudies from over the state were taking an interest in the hair, feel and nail mind rivalry Saturday, said Barbie Mayer, facilitator of the UTC's cosmetology program.

The educators concurred that the SkillsUSA encounter is vital as the understudies get ready for the work environment.

"It is a chance to see the capacities of their associates and exercise what they know," teacher Curt Boylen said.

Steve Shaffer, SkillsUSA counsel for UTC, likewise underscored the estimation of the opposition.
