Florida Senate says yes to more help for college students

The students in the State of Florida recently received good news when the Senate president Jeo Nergon announced an overhaul of the state's higher education system, agreeing to help some students in their tuition. The amount of money allotted under the state’s scholarship program is said to have been increased and be awarded to almost 10,000 students. If the bill becomes law, students with the highest scores may find, as much as 75% to 100%, of their tuition fees covered by the State.

The Senate President said “We never want to have an obstacle in the way of young men and women being able to complete their university or college education. The bill we passed today transformed our commitment to higher education."

Although a similar bill had been passed in the Florida Legislature last year as well, it had been vetoed and dropped. The officials said that the State wants to help parents and families who value education and our pulling together all resources to provide education to their children. To help the parents get their children educated, it is being hoped that the Florida House will accept the bill, which amounts to $150 million.
