Network for Public Education Study Exposes Charter School Scams

Charter school scams have been seen to be supported by wealthy philanthropists. It’s the powerful politicians and entrepreneurs that want to take the money off of education.

In the District of Columbia and 44 other states, more than 3 million children have been recorded to attend charter schools. These charter schools include non-profit schools, quasi-public schools, cyber schools, and national business chains. About 20% of these look forward to making a profit from children and local governments.

When examined and analyzed, two-thirds of these schools lacked the required internal controls which resulted in a risk to the department of education funds.

Charter schools claim that public school’s money is not being driven away by them. However, it is estimated that $20 million a year would be saved if these charters schools had been shut down.

A report by the Network for Public Education stated that these charter schools are a "FAILED EXPERIMENT." The report did not point towards the closure of these charter schools, but rather advocated that they should be absorbed into the public school system. The day when the charter schools are governed by the community is being looked forward to.
