Post graduate medical programs in India

Unlike the MBBS degree, the NEET is the mostly required entrance exam for MD, MS or post graduate diploma and for post-graduation studies, the entrance exam is named as PG-NEET. PG-NEET is held every year for PG residency courses in India. Previously, there were multiple tests including AIPGMEE and state level exams for admitting into the PG residency courses, yet now all of them are disapproved by MCI and only PG-NEET is the approved entrance exam.

Post graduate medical programs for foreign nationals and NRIs

For post graduate medical programs, NRIs are also treated as Indians. Yet, as a foreigner you will be privileged, as a number of seats are usually reserved in every medical colleges for the foreigners.

To get admitted in to those seats for pursuing post graduate medical education in India, you have to contact through diplomatic consulate. The Indian embassy of your country should be able to provide sufficient information regarding the admission and admission procedures.

Though, you may need to go for an entrance exam as well in such cases, and the exam will be held in the embassy and the question paper will be submitted by MCI. The exam will be MCQ in nature and no essay type question will be there.

  • For MD/MS- the cost of education would be around $1,50,000 or 80 lakhs to 1 crore INR

Upon completion of your post graduate degree, you will be free to leave India with your internationally recognized MD/MS/Post graduate diploma. However, the certificated must be legalized by the foreign ministry of India before using in your home country.
