Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a private multi-disciplinary research institute and perhaps, it is the largest private research institute in India. It was established in the year of 2003 and its present chancellor is Mata Amrita Ananda Mayi Devi. Its president is Swami Amrita Swarupa Nanda Puri and its vice chancellor is Mr. P. Venkat Rangan.

At this moment, this edified and authentic university has over 18,000 students and 1,750 academic staffs. The university has several campuses in the largest cities including Chennai, Banglaore, Cochi and Myshore.

Right now, the university is offering under graduate, post graduate and doctoral research programs in the fields of engineering, business management, arts and humanities, basic and applied sciences, healthcare, biotechnology and mass media communication.

According to the QS world university ranking, this university ranked 168th among all of the universities of Asia and according to NIRF 2018, this university ranked 15th among all of the universities in India.
