General information, Delhi Technological University

Delhi Technological University was formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi Polytechnic. This public university was established on 1941 as Dehli Polytechnic. Located in New Delhi, India, it is one of the oldest engineering institutes in India. It was also the first engineering university of Delhi.

The previous polytechnic college was provided with state University status in 2009. It has been offering traditional B.E. and B.Tech. courses since then. It has been providing M.Tech and PhD doctoral courses. Along with the engineering departments, it has also added a division for the management studies that provides BBA and MBA education to the students.

The administrative function of Delhi Technological University is conducted from the Kashmiri Gate Campus in Old Delhi. The campus has spread across 164 acres of land providing enough room for the research scholars to perform various kinds of researches.

All of the facilities are provided with libraries. There are computer centers in the faculties. A sports complex is available for the welfare of the students. In total, the university has eight boy’s hostels and six girl’s hotels. In addition, the university offers a married couple hostel as well. The campus also provides residential facilities for the faculty members and the staffs. In accession, the campus has an auditorium and an open-air-theatre.

Among all of the engineering colleges in India, the Delhi Technological University is ranked 10^th according to NIRF in 2018.
