Located in Chandigarh, India, Punjab University is actually a public collegiate university. The university was conceptualized in 1882, yet it came in to light in 1947. It was also one of the oldest universities in India.

The university has 78 departments and 15 centers for teaching as well as researches. The university has 188 affiliated colleges spread across the Punjab state. The residential campus is spread over 550 acres. In sector 14, Chandigarh, the main administrative and academic buildings are located.
