Assam Down Town University is one of the finest private universities in Assam and it was established in 2010. The university is located in Panikhaiti, Guwahati, capital of Assam. The campus of the university is spread over an area of 42 acres. The university is just 12 km away from the Assam State Secretariat.

The university has a humble beginning, and at this moment, the Assam Down Town University has over 3,000 students. It has also a lot of foreign students from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. The university was established by the down town charity trust and the trust is promoted by the Down Town Hospital Limited. The group has been in the education sector since 1993.

The motto of Assam Down Town University is “Encouraging Success” and its chancellor is N. N. Dutta. Its vice chancellor is Amarijoyti Chaudhury. Situated in Guawahati, Assam, the university is affiliated to UGC.
