General information, Allahabad University

Allahabad University is also known as the University of Allahabad. It is a public central university located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The university was established in 1887 and it is the fourth oldest modern universities in India. The origin of the university lies in the Muir Central College and the college was established in 1876. Later, the college was transformed into the Allahabad University. At some point, the university was known as the “Oxford of the East”.

In Latin, the motto of the university is “Quot Rami Tot Arbores”. In English, it stands as, “Every Branch Yields a Tree”. Goverdhan Mehta is the chancellor of this university and Rattan Lal Hangloo is the Vice-Chancellor. Located in the heart of Allahabad, the university is affiliated to UGC. A brief Overview

• At present, the institution is offering UG, PG and Doctoral Research program. It has several schools and departments offering enticing tutoring experience. In addition, all of the facilities are equipped with first-rated tools and instruments so that the students could get the best out of them and the research scholars could conduct researches with utmost perfection.
• The campus area has all the modern amenities for the students. It contains a vast computer lab. The library of this institution is rich and it contains thousands of books. It contains Wi-Fi zone and residence for the students.
• The institution offers an e-portal of information for the students through their websites, so that the students could be up-to-dated with all essential information.  
• In addition, it also provides transportation for the students. Furthermore, the campus offers cafeteria and canteen as well. It has a medical facility available for the students. For better accommodation of the academic staffs and research scholars, it has separate residential buildings.  
• The institution also holds various seminars and workshops on a regular basis where scholars could publish their papers.
• In accession to curricular activities, the institution also arranges annual cultural and sports events along with intra-departmental ceremonies.
