The STEM Magnet Academy opened in September of 2011, with 220 students in grades K-3. One grade level will be added each year until the school services grades K-8. There are currently 285 students in grades K-4. STEM Magnet Academy is the first magnet school in Chicago to offer STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) as its programmatic focus.
