Penn Elementary School offers a Literature and Writing Magnet program which emphasizes increased academicachievement, improved teacher effectiveness, as well as increasing school and community collaboration. Students at all grade levels receive rigorous and relevant curriculum, which is  comprised of  engaging lessons that challenge our students while providing a structure that allows them to develop their own understanding of concepts.

Penn offers a variety of before, after, and Saturday programming. These programs include math and reading academic enrichment, mentoring with alumni from Cornell University, drama, culinary arts, band, modern dance, girls’ and boys’ volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and track and field.

The school enjoys partnerships with 21st Century, After School All Stars Elite, Cornell University, Prospect Elementary, Oak Elementary, Penn Alumni, and the International Music Foundation.

Our students have earned recognition for perfect attendance, academic achievement, and writing competitions. All of our teachers are highly-qualified and state certified. The school has earned a 2007 Academic Improvement Award for Exemplary Gains in Performance on the Illinois Learning Standards over the past three years.
