US school shooting survivors to march for gun control

Survivors of the Florida school shooting have flooded the Capitol demanding to push the ban on the assault style rifle that was used in the massacre that killed 17. Students are vowing to make significant changes in the upcoming elections if lawmakers do not change the law before the end of the legislative session.

The lawmakers are serious about the situations. Though, they might put a restriction but not a ban. Currently it is being reviewed to change the minimum age required to purchase a weapon to 21 years.

Students that came to the Capitol found out that the Republicans were trying to steer the conversation away from the gun restriction.

Rachel Catania, a sophomore said, “I know it’s going to be hard, but I know we can do it,” she said. “We’re not going to be the school that got shot, we’re going to be the school that got shot and made something happen. A change is going to happen.”

A rally is to be held on Wednesday to pressurize the Legislature. The attack initially overcame the restriction of the state’s political leadership. Students will also meet the top legislative leaders and talk to the Senate.
