Hard to see America’s ‘success story’ in current bloody times

The world is becoming red – blood red. Every waking day brings a new story of a massacre at a U.S school. Another political extremist making the world bloodier. In amidst of this, the Harvard colleague, Steven Pinker and his students say that the world in careening towards disaster.

Pinker, has his own belief of the world being pink, rather than red. He believes that the media distorts information. He says, “Human welfare has improved dramatically, and it’s improved by almost any measure you like — longevity, health, prosperity, education, literacy, leisure time, and on and on . . . The objective record shows that progress has taken place, and it’s really an enormous success story.”

The most recent gunman that was involved in the Parkland, Florida was Nikolas Cruz. In a recent YouTube comment, he claimed that he was ‘going to be a professional school shooter.” Many believe that Cruz also belongs to a category of Muslim men that are with the ISIS.

Pinker supports the cosmopolitan view and believes that people from diverse cultural background need to sit down together and come on a mutual stance as to how they will run their affairs and things will get better in the coming time.
