Stephen Gallagher appointed Stanford University chief information officer

Stephen Gallagher, who served as the chief information officer at Harvard University, is to now resume the role of chief information officer at Stanford University. He is expected to take hold of the office from March, 12, whereby he will working under Randy Livingston, who is the vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer and liaison for Stanford University. Gallagher will resume the responsibility of University IT, approximately 150 staff members and an annual budget of $150 million.

 

University IT is the hub of information management for the University. To name a few of the functions of this department, it manages the University’s emails, calendars, datacenters, telecommunication, networks and reporting environments. Upon the announcement of this news, Livingston said “Steve brings an outstanding combination of strategic technology vision, technical depth, and experience in both higher education and industry. He is also a terrific leader and a developer of talent, which are critical skills given the scope of University IT.

Gallagher is expected toimprove the functions of the IT department, bring efficiency to the current operations, figure out any information inaccuracies and improve the overall experience of the clients. He is expected to manage the cloud computing for the whole university.
