Understand Conditional Admission at U.S. Schools International applicants whose English test scores are low

Students are being offered conditional admission in US universities if they score low in their English test. They are supposed to take part in an English program or a course being offered at the university once granted admission, to improve the language. Susan Schaurer, assistant vice president for enrollment management and director of Miami University, said: "The Institution still wants them to be a part of them university community." The students are expected to meet certain prerequisites to be granted complete admission to a certified university degree.

These prerequisites can be related to academics or otherwise and the students can take the prerequisite courses at the university. Universities have inaugurated well-planned, extensive English programs that train the students in the language and help them fulfill their prerequisites which can then grant them the status of transfer students.

The details about the conditional offers, the prerequisites and the due processes involved are provided by the admissions office at the universities’’ campuses. Schools issue a form-120 to inform the students who have been given conditional admissions and are informed of the prerequisite courses they need to take to be enrolled as regular students, English is one of the common courses.
