If you can't get New York's free tuition, here are ten more states with cheap college costs

New York recently started offering free tuition for selective students this fall. Public colleges are a good option for families who have started the college search for their children.

According to the plan proposed, known as the Excelsior Scholarship, those families who have a household income of $125,000 or less can enrol their children in tuition-free colleges that have 2-year and 4-year programs.

The program is expected to yield $100,000 and up to $110,000 in 2018. About 940,000 families are expected to receive the benefits of this Excelsior Scholarship.

However, to avail this opportunity, the students must agree to live and work in New York for as long as they have been receiving the scholarship. If they do not agree to this condition, they can’t reap the benefits that this scholarship provides.
