College Admissions: Valuing More Than Just Test Scores

Sports teams and groups of students are created so that students can share their interests in different subjects. These activities assist youngsters to identify their hidden talents which will help them grow into their adulthood.

Schools that have limited resources do not spend much time and money as competitive schools do; more attention is given to academics. Every U.S educational institute uses its applicant’s extra information to build up their communities.

American high school officials want their students to be more involved in theatre and technology or volunteer groups. These kinds of activities tend to help the students move to higher education systems.

The senior associate director of undergraduate admissions at the Washington University, Jennifer Dewar, says strong academic skills are valued by every educational institute in the U.S. she adds the fact that administrators, however, have other goals that they want to achieve. It's not just the classroom experience that matters, but the 4-year student experience that builds up the character of our students, Dewar adds.

In the applications, admission office officials always ask the students their preference for activities outside the classroom. This is because these activities are a vital part of the whole system where students come to class for studying. Thus, it's not just the score that matters, but also the extracurricular activities that a child is enrolled into.
