Changing colleges sounds like something that can be done without any hassle when in reality it is one of the most difficult tasks you can think of doing.
Sarah Luthans, who studied painting, thought that the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) was the best place for her to study. But, after two years, she discovered that she wanted more creative freedom and decided that the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) was the right place. Thus, she decided to transfer to VCU, and that was when difficulties in her life started.
When you transfer to a new school, you expect your previously earned credits to be transferred to your new school. But, for Luthans, this was not the case. When Luthans begin studying at VCU, she found out that 25% of her credits would not be transferred be transferred from SCAD.
It was less than a year when she dropped out of VCU to continue her education in SCAD. She got her bachelor’s degree from SCAD; learning her lesson the hard way.
Luthans is not the only one to face this sort of issue. Many Americans face the same issue. The main reason for losing credits during transfer is the difference in academic requirements amongst different educational institutes.
