Bullied Immigrants

Reports reaching the board of a Florida based college is that the school’s republican student charter have been using a message board to hurl hate speech and offensive insults at immigrant students. They have also been using the same messaging board as a platform to mock the victims of the Charlottesville rally attack. Spokeswoman for the Florida International University, Maydel Santana has noted that there have been no previous report made on the charter and as such, they will be launching an investigation into the matter.

Former leader of the club, Mauricio Pons have highlighted he notified the student affairs associated from as early as April of this year but nothing was done and citing it as one of the main reasons he gave up the leadership. He noted he was not inclined to be the head of a group which prided itself in hurling hate speech at fellow students and/or classmates.

Based on screenshots of the messaging board reaching many of the new outlets who have been keeping an eye on the developments have said of the texts were really offensive and “low”. Based on one report, it said some of the students in response to a student-immigration demonstration rally that was taking place, texted, “call ICE” or even referring to the victims of the Charlottesville attack as “snowflakes”.

The university has pledged to launch a full investigation into the matter and will provide updates in due time on the issue.
