About Us

Scoil na n-Óg is a purpose built Montessori school (EST. 2001) catering for children between 2½ -5 yrs. It is owned and run by Kathryn Mullen, a fully trained A.M.I. Montessori teacher since 1990.

The staff of Scoil na n-Óg are all Montessori trained (Fetac level 6) along with some qualified with a BA in Early Education.

The school provides a variety of Montessori/Day care sessions: 9-12 / 1-4 /9-2 /8-5.30 and runs from September to June, summer camp in July and closes for the month of August.

Curriculum of Scoil na n-Óg Montessori classrooms.

Five main areas that involves both play and Montessori:

Practical life: Pouring, spooning, buttoning, zipping, lacing, threading, cutting.

Sensorial: Activities designed to sharpen the childs senses.

Language: Talking, singing, tracing, writing, acting, miming, musical instruments, reading and spelling.

Tiny Talk Scheme: Scheme aims to improve the language and learning skills of children in the 3-6 yrs. All our staff attended the 8 week training and the project involves the teachers and parents, working alongside a speech and language therapist in helping and identifying language and communication needs at an early age. The project aims to develop a curriculum of enriched speech, language and communication activities within both the home and school setting.

Maths: Activities which explain the meaning and function of numbers in a concrete and simple way!

Culture/Geography/History: Living things, earth, space, Land, water, weather, globe, flags, animals, cultures of the world, dinosaurs, child’s time lines. Irish

Sign Language

Children learn to sign, have access to our signing puppets, specialized books, posters, learning and interactive worksheets.

Additional play activities Include sand, water, P.E. gardening, recycling, construction play, messy play, cookery, Arts and crafts, farms, fancy dress parties, Santa visit, sports days and picnic days and lots more fun!!
