Overview

Ennis Montessori School and Cara Club Afterschool was the first childcare service in Clare to receive full compliance from the pre-school inspection team in 2003 and has continued to achieve full compliance since then.

We have 18 years’ experience in childcare and from this we create a well referenced curriculum that will sow the seeds of interest for future learning. This service was built centered around safety & comfort in an environmentally friendly, homely and stimulating atmosphere.

All Ennis Montessori School (EMS) staff are qualified and experienced child-carers. Continuous learning for staff is part of our ethos and all staff are involved in the planning and holistic approach of our service.

We apply both the Siolta-National Quality Framework and Aistear- the curriculum framework to all areas of our service.

Through interaction with parents and the wider community we adapt our curriculum and it evolves to meet the needs of each child.

As we are Montessori based we treat each child as an individual and provide a nurturing environment where the child can grow in confidence, self-esteem and reach their full potential. Apart from Language skills, Maths, History and Geography we offer an introduction to Irish and French.

We enjoy Cookery, Gymnastics, Yoga, Arts&Crafts and playtime in our “home corner”. We have visitors’ such as the dentist, a musician, dancers, Gardaí, Paramedics and a lollipop-lady.

We take nature walks to Lees Road, a cinema trip, a visit to the Fire Station and Library. All these extra activities stimulate and enthuse the children in our care.

Our outdoor area includes a large open play area, covered play area, an enclosed soft-mat climbing-frame, picnic-tables, sandpits, slides, tricycles and lots more! The service is suitable for children from 2 ½ to 10 years old.
