My name is Mandy and I own and run The Orchard pre-school and Montessori.

About Us

The Orchard Pre-school is a purpose build childcare facility with wheelchair access which is located in Killester just off St, Brigids road near Killester dart station. The Orchard is a small sessional service that runs for 38 weeks of the year. The maximum amount of children is 17.

Our opening hours are 8.45 to 12.00 with an optional hour Available from 12.00 to 1.00. Our afternoon session will run from 12.30 to 3.30. If you choose to leave your child for the extra hour the cost is 5 euro for each day(20 euro for 5 days). If your child is not yet availing of the free preschool year the cost is 60 euro a week. Part time places are also available( 36 euro for 3 days.)

Curriculum - We follow a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for your child. We believe that play is a child's learning while also having the benefit of Montessori equipment. Observations are carried our regularly this gives us a chance to help your child in every aspect of their development. The preschool provides a fun , exploratory way for children to grow academically in areas such as:-

• Early literacy and alphabet concepts
• Early maths, learning numbers and counting
• Basic science
• Physical health and safety
• Problem solving skills
• Art activities
• Computers
• Transition from pre-school to primary school
• Family fun programme
• Irish language
• Music and dancing (with a qualified musician from the national concert hall-my father in law Seamus!!)

ICT- There are two computers in the pre-school. Children will learn how to use the computer and control the mouse. The computers are equipped with software that is age appropriate for all children. Children will play games that will help them Match pictures, spot the difference, draw and paint pictures.

Management - a little about us!

My name is Mandy and I own and run The Orchard pre-school and Montessori. I hold a BA (Honours) Degree in Early Years Education and also Fetac level 5 and 6 and a certificate in Montessori education from the practical school of childcare.

My assistant Veronica is a dedicated valuable staff member. She also holds a Fetac level 5 qualification and a certificate in Montessori education. Both teachers also have a current first aid certificate and have garda clearance.

We are both qualified and experienced teachers who are dedicated to promoting and encouraging all aspects of children’s development within our setting.
